E Series Gantry Machining Center: Economical Capacity for Medium Workpieces

The VITOP E Series fixed-beam gantry machining center offers 19 economical models with tables from 1000 x 1600 to 1600 x 3700 mm for medium plus large workpieces.

Not every job needs a 30-tonne gantry. The VITOP E Series is the economical fixed-beam gantry machining center line, with nineteen models from the BTMC-E1216B to the BTMC-E1935B. It is aimed at medium and large workpieces where you want gantry-class rigidity without paying for the largest frame in the catalogue.

Series Specifications

ParameterRange across the series
Worktable travel (X-axis)1600 - 3500 mm
Sliding saddle stroke (Y-axis)1300 (1450) / 1500 / ... / 1800 (2000) mm
Spindle box travel (Z-axis)800 - 1000 mm
Gantry width1280 - 1880 mm
Worktable dimensions1000 x 1600 mm up to 1600 x 3700 mm
Worktable load capacity2000 - 8000 kg
Spindle motor power18.5 - 22 kW
Repetitive positioning accuracy (X/Y/Z)±0.003/300 mm
Machine weight (approx.)15000 - 40000 kg

That puts the E Series in the zone where mould shops, machinery builders and structural part suppliers overlap: tables big enough for a 2 to 3 metre mould base or a welded frame, loads up to 8 t, and a footprint most existing halls can accept.

What Economical Means Here

Economical configuration is about choosing the right hardware for the job, not cutting corners on the base machine. The castings, scraping work and inspection process are the same approach we apply across the range: HT300 resin-sand castings with double ageing, hand-scraped matched guideways, and laser interferometry plus ballbar testing on every machine before shipment.

Spindle Choices

Most models carry the BT50-190 belt-driven spindle at 6000 rpm, with an optional 1.5:1 ratio for different torque and speed balance. Three directions are available depending on model:

  • Belt BT50-190 at 6000 rpm - the workhorse option for general milling of moulds, plates and frames
  • Gear head BT50-190, 6000 rpm at 4.4:1 - for heavy roughing where torque matters more than spindle speed
  • Direct BT40 at 12000 rpm - for finishing passes, electrodes and smaller cutters

Because these options vary by model, tell us your typical material and cutter sizes and we will confirm which spindle configuration fits your work before quoting.

Where the E Series Fits in a Shop

A common pattern is running the E Series as the roughing and semi-finishing machine behind a vertical machining center. The VMC handles smaller prismatic parts; the gantry takes the mould bases, weldments and oversized plates that would overload a C-frame machine. The ±0.003/300 mm repetitive positioning accuracy means semi-finished parts can move to a second operation or a grinding process without losing datum.

For buyers in Southeast Asia and other export markets, the E Series is often the entry point into gantry machining: enough capacity for real mould work, machine weights from 15 to 40 t that keep foundation work manageable, and a specification that can grow with spindle and control options.

Questions to Ask Before Ordering

  • Heaviest workpiece, and does it sit inside the 2000-8000 kg table rating with fixture weight included?
  • Widest part plus cutter swing against the 1280-1880 mm gantry width?
  • Roughing or finishing bias - gear head, belt BT50 or high-speed BT40?
  • Floor space and foundation for the 5760-10300 mm machine lengths

Send us the answers, or just the part drawings, and we will match a model from the nineteen variants.

Support, Certification and Custom Builds

VITOP has manufactured CNC machine tools for more than thirteen years on a 30000 m² base with casting, precision machining, assembly and inspection integrated in-house. That vertical integration keeps responsibility for casting quality and final geometry with one supplier instead of spreading it across vendors. Full OEM and ODM support is available if your workpieces need a non-standard configuration, and the company operates under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified systems. Every E Series machine ships with its laser interferometry and ballbar test results, which is worth requesting explicitly when you compare suppliers - a repeatability figure means little without the report of the actual machine behind it.
