How Much Does a VMC 850 Cost? 2026 Price Ranges and What Changes Them
Typical VMC 850 listed prices run US$10,000-36,000, with most configurations between US$20,000-33,000. Here is what drives the spread.
A VMC 850 is the machine many mould and precision-parts shops end up buying first. The numbers are familiar: about 800 x 500 x 500 mm of travel, a 1000 x 500 mm table, a BT40 spindle running 8,000 to 10,000 rpm, a 24-tool magazine, and a machine weight around 5.2 tonnes. It is also one of the most quoted machines in the Chinese market, which means listed prices are everywhere. Comparing them honestly is the hard part.
Typical listed prices in 2026
On the major B2B platforms, listed ex-works prices for a VMC 850 currently run from roughly US$10,000 to US$36,000. The bottom of that range buys a basic configuration with a locally produced controller. The top buys a full configuration with a FANUC or Siemens control. Most mainstream configurations cluster between US$20,000 and US$33,000.
Treat these as typical listed ranges, not as a quotation for any specific machine. Two VMC 850s that look identical in a listing can differ by thousands of dollars once you read the specification line by line. Here is where the differences hide.
Controller brand: the biggest single lever
The control system is usually the largest price gap between two otherwise similar quotes. A FANUC or Siemens package sits at the top of the market and pushes a machine toward, or past, the upper end of the mainstream band. Locally made controllers cut the control cost substantially, which is why basic-configuration machines can be listed near US$10,000. Ask which controller and which servo drives are fitted before you compare anything else, because the answer changes the whole quote.
Box ways or linear rails
Box ways cost more to manufacture. The sliding guideway surfaces must be hand scraped and matched, and the machine gains damping that suits heavier cuts and mould work. Linear rails are faster to fit, support quicker rapids and cost less, which is why they dominate general-purpose machines. Neither design is better in absolute terms; the price difference reflects manufacturing labour and the duty the machine was built for.
Spindle, castings and speed
Most VMC 850s ship with a BT40 spindle in the 8,000 to 10,000 rpm range, and higher-speed spindle options raise the price. Construction matters too. HT300 resin-sand castings with double ageing treatment cost more to produce than lighter castings, but they hold geometry better over the years. If a quote sits far below the market band, the castings and guideway work are the first places a factory saves money.
Tool magazine and options
A 24-tool automatic magazine is the norm on this class of machine. Larger magazines, through-spindle coolant, a chip conveyor, angle heads and a 4th-axis rotary table all add to the price. Order only what your parts need. Every option you skip is money available for a better controller or a heavier casting.
Duties: why the landed price differs by country
These listed prices are ex-works, before freight, duty and tax. What you actually pay depends on where the machine lands. In Vietnam, for example, MFN duty on HS Chapter 84 machinery typically runs 5-10%, but with a Form E certificate many CNC machine HS codes drop to 0-5%, and 10% VAT applies on the CIF value plus duty. Other Southeast Asian markets apply their own rates. The same US$25,000 machine can land at noticeably different totals in Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta or Laem Chabang.
If you are budgeting for a VMC 850, start from the mainstream band of US$20,000-33,000 for a properly equipped machine, then add freight, duty and tax for your port. The fastest way to a real number is to send us your parts and let us quote a configuration that fits them.
