GV-870 CNC Engraving and Milling Machine with 24000 rpm Spindle

The GV-870 engraving and milling center offers 18000/24000 rpm electric spindle options, BT40 holding plus a 12-tool magazine for precision mould work.

The GV-870 is the larger model of VITOP Machinery's GV series, a high-rigidity engraving and milling centre built for graphite and metal machining. Compared with the CM series, it offers heavier spindle motor options, up to 20 kW, while keeping the high-speed, fine-finish character of an engraving machine. Here is what the specification says about daily use.

Spindle and Power Options

Speed configurations run at 50 to 18000 r/min and 500 to 24000 r/min, with spindle motor choices of 11, 15 or 20 kW. Tool holding is BT40, a practical choice for mould shops because holders and shrink-fit tooling already in the shop carry over. Installation diameters of Φ140, Φ125 and Φ150 mm cover the option range. The wide power spread means you can configure the machine for graphite electrodes at one end or hardened-steel finishing with substantial tool contact at the other.

Axis Design for Small Tools

All three axes ride on 35-size ball-bearing guideways with 3208 ball screws, a light, low-friction drive train matched to small cutter loads. Rapids reach 12 m/min and cutting feed tops out at 8000 mm/min. For engraving and finishing work this is the right balance: acceleration and smoothness at the cutting point matter more than raw traverse speed.

Where Shops Use the GV-870

  • Graphite and copper electrode production for EDM departments
  • Precision mould parts: cores, inserts, rib and texture detailing
  • Hardened tool steel finishing where surface quality reduces polishing
  • Small batch precision components with fine features

A mould shop finishing cavities after a heavier roughing machine, for example, would move inserts to the GV-870 for semi-finish and finish passes. The BT40 spindle keeps the same holders as the roughing VMC, so jobs transfer without new tooling.

Footprint and Installation

The machine measures about 2500 x 2160 x 2600 mm and weighs roughly 4200 kg, an easy install on a normal slab. Twelve tool stations with optional random selection cover typical electrode and finishing programs. If your work mixes graphite and steel, ask about coolant and dust handling for the configuration you need, since graphite machining calls for extraction rather than flood coolant.

Evaluating the GV-870 Against Your Work

Before you shortlist the machine, run an honest audit of your finishing jobs. Collect the programs that currently take the longest per millimetre of material removed, usually small ball nose and corner radius passes on cores and inserts. If those jobs dominate, the high-speed electric spindle and light axis drives here will cut hours off them. If instead your bottleneck is heavy roughing, a VMC is still the right machine and the GV-870 would sit idle.

When you request details, ask for the geometric test report of the actual machine and confirm the spindle speed and power configuration you are buying, since the 11, 15 and 20 kW options change what the machine will comfortably do. Clarify tooling too: BT40 holders from your existing VMC inventory carry over, but check holder projection against the 330 mm Z travel for your tallest parts. Finally, plan the graphite question early if electrodes are in your mix, because extraction, sealing and housekeeping are much cheaper to decide before installation than after.
