Southeast Asia's Vertical CNC Machine Market: 2026 in Numbers
Southeast Asia's vertical CNC machine market is worth about USD 7.42 billion in 2026 and heading toward USD 12.8 billion by 2030. The numbers buyers should know.
If you buy machine tools in Southeast Asia, the market you shop in is bigger and growing faster than most people assume. Regional market reports put the vertical CNC machine market at about USD 7.42 billion in 2026, an increase of 31.8 percent compared with 2023. The forecast has it growing at roughly 9.6 percent a year toward around USD 12.8 billion by 2030. Behind those headlines sit some practical facts worth knowing before your next purchase.
Where the Money Is Spent
Three countries dominate. Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia together account for about 68.5 percent of the regional market, with Thailand alone at roughly 29.1 percent. That is not a surprise to anyone who has walked a Thai automotive supplier's plant or a Vietnamese mould shop, but it matters for buyers: local service networks, spare parts stocks and used machine pools concentrate where the volume is.
Vertical Machines Lead the Pack
Within the vertical category, vertical machining centers are about 67.1 percent of regional vertical CNC sales. The VMC is the default first serious machine for most shops because it covers mould work, parts production and second operations in one package. If your competitors are buying VMCs, the labour market around you, from programmers to service technicians, knows that platform best.
What Is Driving Demand
The end markets are reasonably balanced, which is good news for stability:
- Automotive parts, roughly 34.2 percent of end demand.
- Mould making, about 21.7 percent.
- Electronics and 3C products, around 18.9 percent.
Two demand signals stand out for 2025 to 2026: orders for EV battery trays grew about 41 percent, and connector mould orders grew about 33 percent. Both push shops toward machines with larger tables, higher-rigidity structures and good surface finish capability.
Where Machines Come From
China and Korea brands have grown their share of mid-range and entry vertical CNC from about 27.3 percent in 2022 to roughly 39.6 percent in 2026. Japan and Germany still hold about 52 percent of the high-end 5-axis and high-rigidity segment. For a job shop, that means the mid-range market now offers far more choice, more suppliers to compare and more negotiating room than five years ago.
What It Means for Your Next Purchase
A growing market brings two practical effects. First, lead times can stretch when everyone orders at once, so plan ahead. Second, supplier quality varies more than ever; ask for the actual machine's geometric test report, not just a brochure. VITOP Machinery supplies vertical, gantry and 5-axis machining centers to buyers across the region, and we are happy to benchmark a configuration against your parts.
How to Read These Numbers as a Buyer
Market statistics are only useful if they change what you do. Three takeaways. First, growth of nearly 10 percent a year means capacity is being added around you; quoting prices will tighten, so invest while differentiation still counts. Second, the strong VMC share confirms it as the safest platform for a general job shop, with specialists adding 4th axes or 5-axis machines where their parts justify them. Third, the rise of China and Korea brands in the mid-range means more quotations to compare, so insist on like-for-like specifications: travels, spindle taper, accuracy reports and control options.
Also watch the demand mix. Automotive at about a third of demand means vehicle production cycles will touch your order book. Mould and electronics work smooth that out for many shops, which is one reason balanced machine choices outperform niche bets.
