Top Manufacturer Claims: How to Verify Them
Every CNC website claims to be a top manufacturer. Test those claims with live video, serial-matched test reports, audits plus reference calls.
Every machine tool website, ours included, says something like "top manufacturer" or "leading factory". As words, they cost nothing. As a buyer, you can and should treat every such claim as a hypothesis to test, not a fact to trust. Here is how to check the four claims that matter most before you wire a deposit.
Claim 1: The Factory Size and Age
"13 years of experience" and "30,000 m2 production base" are checkable. Ask for a live video walk of the facility with today's date on screen, from the casting or casting-storage area through machining, scraping, assembly and the test floor. A trading company can show you a very good factory video; a real builder can show you the same floor live and answer questions about the machines on it. Ask when the factory was founded and what it built in its first years; the answer usually reveals whether machines or trading came first.
Claim 2: The Accuracy and Testing Claims
"Every machine is laser verified" is one of the strongest claims a builder can make, and one of the easiest to verify. Ask for a laser interferometry report and a ballbar chart for the machine class you are buying, complete with the serial number, test date and operator. Then ask whether the geometric tests follow the ISO 10791-series for machining centres. If the reports are serial-matched and dated, the claim is real. If you receive a glossy brochure sheet with no serial, the claim is decoration.
Claim 3: The Certifications
ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are meaningful only if they are current and issued to the actual factory entity. Ask for certificate copies and check the certificate number, scope and validity dates. The scope matters: a certificate covering "trading of machinery" is not the same as one covering the design and manufacture of machine tools.
Claim 4: The Export Track Record
"Exports worldwide" can mean three machines to one country or a steady trade. Ask which markets they ship to most, what share of production is exported, and for one reference buyer in or near your region. A short call with a workshop that has run the machines for a year tells you more than any brochure. For ASEAN buyers, also test the practical claim behind export experience: can they issue Form E certificates of origin through CCPIT on time, every time?
The Serial Number Tie That Binds Everything
One habit catches most fabrication: tying every claim to a serial number. Nameplate photos, test reports, packing lists and even the live video should all show or reference the same serial. When a supplier can produce a consistent chain from nameplate to test data to packed crate, the odds are very high that you are dealing with the real builder. When each document carries a different number, or none, the claims collapse whatever their wording.
The Fastest Verification: A Third-Party Audit
If you cannot travel, commission an audit. Firms such as SGS or BV inspect the factory against your questions, and a machine-tool audit typically costs several hundred to around USD 1,500. Against the price of a machining centre, that is cheap certainty, and it usually pays for itself in the negotiation alone.
What We Invite You to Check
We make the same claims as everyone else: 13+ years, a 30,000 m2 base, casting to inspection under one roof, laser and ballbar testing on every machine before shipment, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. So do not take them on faith. Book a live video tour, request serial-matched test reports, commission an audit, or come and stand on our floor. Claim verification is a service we welcome at vitopmachinery@163.com.
