VH Series Vertical Machining Center for Precision Finishing

VH series VMC, six models tuned for high-precision finishing with a BBT40 spindle, 10000-12000 rpm plus 0.003/300 mm positioning accuracy.

Finishing Is a Different Job

Roughing forgives a lot. Finishing does not. When the last pass has to come off at tolerance with a surface your customer measures, the machine needs stiffness, thermal stability and a spindle that runs true. The VITOP VH series vertical machining center is positioned for exactly that: a six-model range, VH-855 through VH-1270, aimed at high-precision finishing operations.

Envelope and Travels

The six models step through the sizes most mould and parts shops need. Worktable travel (X-axis) runs from 800 to 1200 mm, sliding saddle stroke (Y-axis) from 550 to 700 mm, and spindle box travel (Z-axis) from 550 to 700 mm. Tables go from 550 x 1000 mm to 700 x 1300 mm with 500 to 800 kg load capacity.

ParameterSpecification
Worktable travel (X-axis)800 - 1200 mm
Sliding saddle stroke (Y-axis)550 - 700 mm
Spindle box travel (Z-axis)550 - 700 mm
Worktable dimensions550x1000 up to 700x1300 mm
Worktable load capacity500 - 800 kg
SpindleBBT40-Φ150
Spindle speed10000 r/min belt type; optional 12000 r/min direct drive
Spindle motor power11 kW
Positioning accuracy (X/Y/Z)±0.003/300 mm
Total electrical capacity25 KVA

That covers cavity and core blocks, small mould bases, precision plates and finished component work. For parts beyond 1200 mm in X, step up to the L series range.

The BBT40 Spindle, and Why It Helps Finishing

Every VH model carries a BBT40-Φ150 spindle with an 11 kW motor. The dual-contact BBT taper seats the holder on both the taper and the flange, which reduces tool runout and micro-vibration. On a finishing pass those two things are the difference between a surface you polish for hours and one you polish briefly, or not at all. Spindle speed is 10000 rpm on the standard belt-type spindle; the optional 12000 rpm direct-drive version suits aluminium moulds, graphite electrodes and other high-speed finishing work.

±0.003 mm, and How It Is Held

Positioning accuracy is ±0.003/300 mm on all three axes. Two things keep that number honest in daily production. First, the structure: HT300 resin-sand castings that go through double ageing treatment, so residual stress does not slowly move the geometry. Second, the fit: hand-scraped and matched guideways, then laser interferometry and ballbar verification on every machine before shipment. When you compare quotes, ask each supplier for the actual machine test report, not a typical value.

Installation Notes

Total electrical capacity is 25 KVA, and the two footprint sizes are around 2600 x 2600 x 2300 mm and 3300 x 2700 x 2900 mm depending on model. Both are manageable in an existing shop. Plan foundation levelling carefully; a finishing machine on an uneven foundation will spend its life fighting its bed.

Where the VH Series Fits Best

  • Mould cavities, cores and polishing-critical surfaces.
  • Precision components with tight tolerance finished features.
  • Second-operation finishing after roughing on a heavier machine.
  • Aluminium and graphite finishing when paired with the direct-drive spindle option.

T Series or VH Series?

Both ranges share a similar envelope. The practical difference is emphasis: T series machines are optimised for rigidity and stability in mixed production, while the VH series is tuned for high-precision finishing work. Many mould shops run both, roughing on one and finishing on the other. If you are choosing a single machine, describe your typical parts to VITOP and let the application decide rather than the brochure.
