VMC-855T Vertical Machining Center: Speed Meets Stability
VMC-855T combines 36 m/min rapid traverse with a BBT40 spindle and 24-tool ATC in a rigid 800x550x550 mm envelope for production machining.
What the VMC-855T Is Optimised For
The VMC-855T is the compact model of VITOP's T series, the range optimised for rigidity and stability, and it adds a speed argument: 36 m/min rapid traverse on all three axes. For complex workpiece processing in batches, the combination of a stiff frame and fast non-cutting moves is what shortens cycle time without shortening tool life.
Envelope and Table
Worktable travel is 800 mm in X, 550 mm in Y and 550 mm in Z. The table measures 550 x 1000 mm, carries up to 500 kg, and carries five 18 mm T-slots on 90 mm spacing. Spindle centre to column guide rail is 590 mm, with the spindle nose from 120 to 670 mm above the table, leaving room for fixtures and taller parts.

Spindle: Balanced for Production Parts
The BBT40-Φ150 spindle runs 10000 rpm on the standard belt drive, with an optional 12000 rpm direct connection. Motor power is 7.5 kW with 35.8 N.m of rated torque, which positions this machine for production parts, aluminium and finishing work rather than heavy roughing of large steel blocks. The dual-contact BBT taper reduces runout and vibration, so finishes stay consistent across long batches. If your main diet is deep roughing in hardened steel, a higher-torque model is the better match.
36 m/min Rapids With Roller Guides Underneath
Fast rapids only make sense on a machine that can carry them. Here the X axis rides a size 35 roller guide and Y and Z use size 45, with a 4016 ball screw on the feed side. Roller guides damp better and carry more load than ball guides of similar size, so the machine can whip between features at 36 m/min and still settle cleanly into position. Cutting feed reaches 15000 mm/min for the long passes typical of mould and part finishing.
Accuracy Backed by Process
Positioning accuracy is ±0.003/300 mm with ±0.002/300 mm repeatability. Behind those numbers sits VITOP's standard build process: HT300 resin-sand castings with double ageing treatment, hand-scraped and matched guideways, and laser interferometry plus ballbar testing of every machine before shipment. Ask any supplier for the test report of the actual machine rather than a brochure value.
ATC and Installation
The 24-tool magazine swaps tools in 3.5 seconds tool-to-tool, handles up to 15 kg per tool and accepts 80 mm diameter cutters at full pockets or 125 mm with adjacent pockets empty. The 200 L cooling tank supports extended cycles. With 25 KVA total electrical capacity, a 2600 x 2600 x 2300 mm footprint and 5000 kg machine weight, installation is straightforward in most existing shops.
Where It Fits in a Shop
- Batch production of complex parts with many features and frequent tool changes.
- Aluminium components and fixtures needing high rapids and good finishes.
- Mould plates and details within the 800 x 550 x 550 mm envelope.
- Shops adding a second CNC that must earn space with short cycle times.
If your parts need more torque for heavy steel roughing, or more travel than 800 mm in X, compare it with other models in the T and L series. Either way, send your drawings to VITOP and confirm the spindle configuration before ordering; the difference between belt and direct drive is a materials question, not a preference.
