VMC-850G Vertical Machining Center: Specs for Mould Work
VMC-850G with 800x500x600 mm travels, roller guides on all three axes plus 15000 mm/min cutting feed for mould and precision parts machining.
A G Series Machine Aimed at Moulds and Parts
The VMC-850G sits in VITOP's G series of vertical machining centers for precision mould and parts machining. The headline numbers are familiar 850-class dimensions, but the details underneath, roller guides on all three axes and a 15000 mm/min cutting feed, are what make it interesting for shops that mix mould work with component production.
Envelope and Table
Worktable travel is 800 mm in X, 500 mm in Y and 600 mm in Z. The 500 x 1000 mm table carries 500 kg, with five 18 mm T-slots on 90 mm spacing. Spindle centre to column is 560 mm and the spindle nose travels from 110 to 710 mm above the table, enough clearance for vices, clamping sets and modest mould plates.

Roller Guides on All Three Axes
The X axis rides on a size 35 roller guide while Y and Z use size 45. Roller guides use recirculating rollers instead of balls, giving higher load capacity and better damping from the same envelope. In the shop this shows up as steadier walls on deep mould pockets and less chatter on finishing passes. The 4012 ball screws match the axes to the duty: precise, responsive movement rather than brute rapid speeds.
BBT40 Spindle, Two Speed Personalities
The spindle is a BBT40-Φ150 with 11 kW and 52.5 N.m rated torque. The dual-contact BBT taper stiffens the connection between holder and spindle, which matters on finishing passes and thin-wall features. The standard belt-driven spindle runs 8000 or 10000 rpm; an optional direct-drive spindle raises this to 12000 or 15000 rpm for aluminium moulds, electrodes and high-speed finishing. Pick the spindle by the materials you cut most.
Feed Rates That Shorten Cycles
Cutting feed reaches 15000 mm/min with 24 m/min rapids on all axes. Combined with the roller guides, this suits the long finishing passes typical of mould work, where the tool must travel smoothly across the whole surface without stalling the programmed feed. High feed rates only pay off when the structure holds tolerance while using them, which brings us to accuracy.
Accuracy, Verified Per Machine
Positioning accuracy is ±0.003/300 mm with ±0.002/300 mm repeatability. VITOP builds on HT300 resin-sand castings with double ageing treatment, hand-scrapes and matches the guideways, and verifies every machine with laser interferometry and ballbar testing before shipment. Ask for the test report of the specific machine you are buying, from VITOP or any supplier.
Practical Details
The 24-tool magazine changes tools in 3.5 seconds, with 80 mm maximum diameter at full pockets and 125 mm when adjacent pockets are empty. The 200 L cooling tank covers long cycles, total electrical capacity is 25 KVA, and the machine weighs about 5500 kg on a 2600 x 2600 x 2300 mm footprint.
Is the VMC-850G Right for Your Shop?
If your mould plates, cavities and precision parts fit the 800 x 500 x 600 mm envelope, this machine covers both roughing and finishing credibly. Heavier or longer work belongs in the L series or the gantry range. Send VITOP your drawings and typical materials, and ask them to recommend spindle configuration and tooling; the reply usually clarifies the choice within one business day.
