BTMC-1613G High-Speed Gantry: 12000 rpm Mould Machining

The BTMC-1613G high-speed gantry machining center combines a 12000 rpm spindle, roller guideways plus Mitsubishi M80V control for efficient large mould and electrode work.

The BTMC-1613G is the largest model in VITOP's high-speed gantry line, built for shops that want finishing speed on mould-sized parts without stepping up to a heavy-cutting gantry. With 1600 mm of X travel, a 12000 rpm direct spindle and roller guideways on all three axes, it is configured for exactly that kind of work.

Spindle and Tooling

The BBT40 or HSK-A63 tool interface is the right choice for high-speed work: both tapers seat repeatably at 12000 rpm, and HSK-A63 gives extra rigidity for harder milling if you select the higher spindle options. The 200-800 mm spindle-to-table range covers tall cores and fixture stacks inside the 1400 mm gantry width.

With a 3000 kg table rating and seven T-slots at 150 mm spacing, clamping a large mould plate directly to the table is straightforward. If you machine graphite or copper electrodes, the optional 15000 or 20000 rpm spindle is the configuration most electrode shops choose.

Motion System

Roller-type 45 guides on all three axes carry more load than same-size ball guides, which shows up in surface finish during light finishing passes. The 5010 ball screws and 4.5 kW axis motors drive rapids of 15/18/18 m/min, and the 8000 mm/min cutting feed ceiling is enough for high-speed milling strategies with small stepovers.

Control Choice

The Mitsubishi M80V is standard. If your programmers live in FANUC shop-floor programming and your existing fleet is FANUC, the optional 0i-MF keeps post-processors and operator habits consistent. Matching controls across a mixed fleet reduces training time more than most buyers expect.

Accuracy and Build

Positioning accuracy is ±0.005/300 mm with ±0.003/300 mm repeatability. Behind that figure: HT300 resin-sand castings with double ageing treatment, hand-scraped matched guideways, and laser interferometry plus ballbar verification of every machine before it ships from our 30000 m² production base.

For a 1.2 to 1.6 metre mould or electrode workload, this model hits a practical balance of speed, envelope and floor space. Send us your part sizes and we will confirm the configuration.

Running Costs and Environment

A 12.2 t machine with a 5000 x 3800 mm footprint fits most mould shops, but plan the environment before delivery. Rapid traverse at 15-18 m/min and a 12000 rpm spindle make coolant management and chip evacuation part of the process design, particularly when milling graphite electrodes where extraction matters for both machine health and operator safety. Power supply should be checked against the machine's electrical specification early, and shops in hot, humid climates should watch electrical cabinet protection and coolant condition from day one. VITOP supports these details during order discussions rather than after installation: with casting through to final inspection done on one 30000 m² site, the engineering team that builds the machine also answers the installation questions. All production runs under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified systems, and OEM or ODM configurations are available for shops that need non-standard setups.
